Kota kinabalu: Parti Solidariti Tanah Airku (STAR) president Datuk Seri Dr Jeffrey Kitingan has expressed his commitment to support Chief Minister Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor and contribute constructively to the government’s agenda for development, stability, and progress. In a statement today, he emphasized that Sabah deserves a government that works together, especially on matters of constitutional rights and long-term sovereignty.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, STAR extended its congratulations to Hajiji on his reappointment as Chief Minister of Sabah, respecting the decision of the people and acknowledging that the democratic process has once again mirrored the voice and aspirations of Sabahans. The party also conveyed its deepest gratitude to its supporters across the state, particularly the voters of Tambunan and Bingkor, for their continued trust in STAR’s leadership and candidates.
STAR reiterated its enduring commitment toward the fulfillment of Sabah’s 40 per cent revenue entitlement as provided under the Federal Constitution. Dr. Jeffrey highlighted the necessity for Sabah to have strong, principled voices involved in the negotiation process, which can only be conducted on a government-to-government basis. He affirmed that the pursuit of securing what rightfully belongs to Sabah has always been central to STAR’s mission.
The official results of the 17th Sabah state election revealed that Gabungan Rakyat Sabah (GRS) secured 29 seats, with its closest challenger, Parti Warisan (Warisan), obtaining 25. This was followed by Barisan Nasional (BN) with 6 seats, UPKO with 3, and STAR with 2. The state polls also saw independent candidates securing five seats, while Pakatan Harapan (PH), Perikatan Nasional (PN), and Parti Kesejahteraan Demokratik Masyarakat (KDM) each won one seat.
