Selangor: Selangor Red Giants (SRG.OG) achieved a milestone when they became champions of the Mobile Legends: Bang Bang Professional League Malaysia (MPL MY) for four consecutive seasons, a streak that began in the 13th season to the 16th season today.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, in the Grand Final held at MAEPS Serdang, SRG.OG’s team of Mark Rusiana (Kram), Muhammad Haqqullah Ahmad Shahrul Zaman (Sekys), Hazziq Danish (Stormie), Muhammad Qayyum Ariffin Mohd Suhairi (Yums), and John Vincent Banal (Innocent) notched a clean 4-0 sweep over CG Esports. Sekys, who played as SRG.OG’s jungler, was voted as the Most Valuable Player of the Grand Final.
SRG.OG coach Michael Angelo Bocado (Arcadia) expressed his delight with his team’s fourth consecutive MPL MY championship title. ‘I’m really happy with this achievement but I really want to win the M-Series (World Championship) as it is the only title missing from my resume. It is unfortunate that I went to two M-Series and got third both times,’ he said.
As champions, the team wins USD 31,900 (about RM131,000) in cash, while runners-up CG Esports take home USD 18,700 (about RM77,000). Both teams have also automatically qualified to represent Malaysia at the MLBB M7 World Championship in Jakarta, Indonesia, in January next year.
