Port klang: Team Hollywood Samurai from Hong Kong clinched the first stage of the Raja Muda Selangor International Regatta (RMSIR) 2025 race from Port Klang to Pangkor, Perak here today. Team Hollywood Samurai, led by skipper Raymond Roberts and his 10-member crew, competed in the Class 1 racing category and completed the race in 12 hours, 59 minutes, and 25 seconds.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, Roberts described the race as challenging due to the frequent thunderstorm activity, especially at night, which required the team to be vigilant in leveraging the changing wind conditions. The Australian team Aftershock finished second with a time of 13:03.00, while Singapore’s Windsikher secured third place, clocking in at 13:54.11.
In the Class 2 competition, Team Shahtoosh from Hong Kong emerged victorious, while Malaysian team Jolt took the Class 3 title. Kimikimi from Poland triumphed in Class 4, and another Malaysian team, Dash, claimed victory in the Class 5 race.
The RMSIR, held over eight days from November 14 to November 22, features 23 teams who will continue their journey to Penang, with the final destination being Langkawi. Established in 1989, the RMSIR is the oldest regatta in Asia and was initiated by the Sultan of Selangor, Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah, who was the Raja Muda of Selangor at the time of the race’s inception.
