Sport Unites Nations Beyond Borders at Woodball World Cup – Raja of Perlis

Kangar: Raja of Perlis Tuanku Syed Sirajuddin Jamalullail emphasized the unique ability of sports to transcend borders and bring people together during the closing ceremony of the 10th Woodball World Cup and 26th Malaysia International Open Woodball Championship 2026 held at Dewan 2020 last night. His Royal Highness highlighted that the true success of any sporting event lies not only in the medals won but also in the values it inspires.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Tuanku Syed Sirajuddin noted that sports have the power to unite people beyond cultures and languages, fostering friendship, mutual understanding, and cooperation among nations. He praised the championship for demonstrating the highest standards of sportsmanship, discipline, integrity, perseverance, and mutual respect, which he believes are the true legacy of the tournament.

The event was also attended by the Raja Muda of Perlis, Tuanku Syed Faizuddin Putra Jamalullail, and Raja Puan Muda of Perlis, Tuanku Dr Hajah Lailatul Shahreen Akashah Khalil. Tuanku Syed Sirajuddin further stated that beyond sporting excellence, such championships significantly contribute to tourism, economic growth, cultural exchange, and enhancing the international profile of Perlis.

Addressing the international delegates and athletes, he expressed gratitude for their participation and hoped that their stay in Perlis was enjoyable and memorable, leaving them with an appreciation of the state's warmth, hospitality, and rich cultural heritage. The tournaments concluded with Malaysia winning seven gold medals, 12 silver, and nine bronze.
