Spirit Of Goodwill, Media Collaboration Must Be Strengthened – Bernama Chairman

Kuala lumpur: The spirit of goodwill and cooperation between the media and community organisations must continue to be strengthened in addressing current challenges, including the spread of misinformation and global uncertainties.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Malaysian National News Agency (Bernama) Chairman Wong Chun Wai emphasized the media's crucial role not only as a conveyor of news but also in shaping public perception, fostering empathy, and connecting communities from different backgrounds. Speaking at the Media Appreciation Night organised by the Melaka Civil Defence Force Associate Officers Association (PPBAPM), Wong highlighted the media's responsibility in nurturing a spirit of togetherness among society.

He noted that media coverage of Melaka PPBAPM's initiatives, such as humanitarian missions, emergency response, and community training, has significantly contributed to public awareness and societal unity. Wong stressed the importance of a responsible approach in tackling the multiple challenges faced by the world today, including humanitarian crises and misinformation.

Wong also praised Melaka PPBAPM's dedication to promoting racial harmony through inclusive, community-based initiatives, describing these efforts as exemplary ways to translate goodwill into tangible actions. He further articulated the need for healthy spaces for dialogue and unifying narratives in society, emphasizing the shared responsibility of the media, uniformed bodies, the corporate sector, and the public in ensuring constructive messaging.

In conclusion, Wong underscored that through close cooperation and trust, it is possible to build a more harmonious, resilient, and united society.
