Smooth Thaipusam Celebration In Penang Proceeds Without Incident

Penang: The Thaipusam celebrations in Penang, which began yesterday, have so far proceeded smoothly and peacefully, with no untoward incidents reported. Police chief Datuk Azizee Ismail said a total of 1,128 police personnel and officers have been deployed statewide since yesterday, working around the clock to ensure smooth operations and public safety.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Datuk Azizee Ismail stated, "As of this morning, the situation remains peaceful and under control. No police reports have been received, and we will continue to ensure that this year's Thaipusam celebrations run smoothly until the golden and silver chariots return to their respective temples." He further mentioned that the police had also deployed 10 Light Strike Force (LSF) units as a precautionary measure.

"Some 200,000 visitors have taken part since yesterday, with the number expected to reach around 500,000 by tonight," he added.
