Skudai Assemblywoman Marina Ibrahim Quits Politics, Will Not Defend Seat

Skudai: Skudai state assemblywoman Marina Ibrahim has announced her withdrawal from politics and will not defend her seat in the upcoming Johor state election.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, the DAP representative stated that her decision followed discussions with close associates, including her supporters. Marina expressed her desire to return to grassroots activities, focusing on community engagement and social work, which she had been involved in prior to her political career. This announcement was made public through her Facebook statement on Sunday.

Marina conveyed her apologies for any shortcomings or weaknesses in her service to the Skudai state constituency since March 22, 2022. Nonetheless, she reassured the public of her commitment to continue her duties until a new state assembly member is appointed.

In the previous state election, Marina Ibrahim secured a victory with 26,359 votes, surpassing her competitors, Barisan Nasional candidate Lim Soon Hai, who garnered 12,416 votes, and Perikatan Nasional candidate Khoo Keng Ek, who received 6,258 votes.
