Kuala lumpur: Domestic Trade and Cost of Living Minister Datuk Armizan Mohd Ali announced that the application process for the Subsidised Diesel Control System (SKDS) for land freight vehicles in Sabah, Sarawak, and Labuan will commence on May 4. Eligible registered vehicles from land freight companies will be able to benefit from diesel subsidies, adhering to the rates set by the government.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Amar Fadillah Yusof announced on April 6, 2026, that the diesel fuel subsidy distribution for the land freight sector via SKDS would be expanded to these regions. The current subsidy for SKDS in the land freight sector is RM2.15 per litre. Companies will use the fleet card method for purchasing subsidised diesel.
Qualified transport companies registered in SKDS must apply for a fleet card from a selected oil company, submitting necessary documents such as an approval letter and a list of vehicles, which can be printed from SKDS.
Armizan stated that full details regarding the registration process will be announced on May 1, 2026. He advised company owners to prepare by ensuring their records are up to date, including active company registration and valid vehicle road tax.
In addition, Armizan commented on the Price Reduction Campaign @ Bataras Programme, organized by Bataras Sdn. Bhd., to help ease the burden on the community. Bataras, established in 1998, operates 58 supermarket branches throughout Sabah. The campaign, running from April 15 to June 30, 2026, offers discounts on selected items up to 70% cheaper than the original price, covering 9,000 items.
Armizan's ministry supports the campaign as a collaborative effort to reduce the cost of essential goods amid the global supply crisis due to the ongoing conflict in West Asia. He encouraged other industry players to follow suit in preserving the well-being of the populace.
