Sivasangari Advances to Third Round of World Championships in Egypt

Kuala lumpur: Malaysia's top women's squash player S. Sivasangari cruised into the third round of the World Championships in Giza, Egypt, after beating compatriot Aira Azman in round two in straight-set games today. The victory marks another successful step in Sivasangari's pursuit of a championship title, as she continues to demonstrate her prowess on the court.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, the tournament's fifth seed took just 24 minutes to win 11-4, 11-9, 12-10 against the 19th seed, extending her unbeaten run over Aira to five matches. This performance underscores Sivasangari's dominance and consistency in the tournament.

Sivasangari's next challenge will be against Belgium's Tinne Gilis in the third round. Gilis advanced after defeating another Malaysian player, Aifa Azman, with scores of 11-7, 11-6, 11-3 in a 25-minute match. This upcoming match is anticipated to be a competitive encounter, given both players' recent performances.

Sivasangari will head into the last-16 tie with a slight advantage in the head-to-head record, having won two of her three previous meetings against Gilis. She previously defeated Gilis at the Cincinnati Gaynor Cup in 2022 and the Grasshopper Cup in 2025.
