SIRIM and Ensu Lifesciences Sign Agreement to Produce Pineapple-Waste Based Skincare

Kuala Lumpur: SIRIM Berhad (SIRIM) and Ensu Lifesciences Sdn Bhd (ELSB) today signed a technology licensing agreement to produce the Acne and Blemish Control Skin Care Technology, a skincare product derived from pineapple waste.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, the product is designed for acne and scar treatment, formulated using three key ingredients: pineapple extract (Bromelain Enzyme), cinnamon, and kaffir lime. SIRIM group chief executive officer Datuk Dr Ahmad Sabirin Arshad stated that the agreement marks the agency’s ongoing commitment to strengthening industry capabilities and capacity across technological domains.

“This agreement allows us to share advanced scientific expertise, particularly in acne treatment solutions, while solidifying ELSB’s position as a key industry player in the cosmetics and personal care segment,” he said. Research findings show that the product is effective in combating acne and reducing scar formation due to its strong antioxidant properties. It is also free from chemicals, non-toxic, and formulated with safe ingredients.

Meanwhile, ELSB chairman Dr Suhana Husin Misnan expressed that SIRIM was the company’s preferred partner in developing cosmetic technology, particularly in obtaining accurate research data covering various necessary studies. He noted that SIRIM is a trusted agency, and the agreement allows ELSB products to gain public trust while also creating opportunities for large-scale production. The company aims to sell 10,000 units of the product.
