SiPearl Secures £130m in Series A Funding to Advance European Processor Technologies

Paris: SiPearl, a company dedicated to developing European high-performance energy-efficient processors for supercomputing and AI, has successfully completed the final closing of its £130 million Series A funding round. This includes a third tranche of £32 million.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, SiPearl was initially seed-funded by the European Union and launched in January 2020 under the European Processor Initiative consortium. This consortium aims to revive high-performance energy-efficient processor technologies within Europe. Since its inception, SiPearl has built a formidable team of 200 employees across France, Spain, and Italy. The company has also established its own sovereign infrastructure, complete with data centers in France, to support semiconductor design through dedicated servers and emulators.

SiPearl has recently completed the design of Rhea1, the most complex processor ever created in Europe. Rhea1 features 80 Arm Neoverse V1 cores and comprises more than 61 billion transistors. The processor was recently handed off to TSMC, the world’s leading foundry in Taiwan, for the start of manufacturing.
