Kuala Lumpur:A three-dimensional (3D) printing company, Shining 3D Tech Co Ltd from China, has agreed to sponsor training for 50 Malaysian Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) trainers. This sponsorship covers accommodation, meals, and the course itself.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, the initiative aims to assist Malaysia in preparing for the WorldSkills Competition (WSC) 2028 in Aichi, Japan, particularly in the new field of dental prosthetics. The announcement was made by Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Maslan, Deputy Minister of Works and Malaysia's Chef de Mission to the WSC.
Shining 3D, recognized as the largest 3D printer company in China and the third largest globally, is already supporting Malaysia in additive manufacturing and mechanical engineering CAD. They have now extended their assistance to include dental prosthetics for the upcoming competition.
Dr Ahmad highlighted the significance of 3D printing technology in the dental prosthetics field, noting its ability to produce dentures within days, as opposed to the traditional methods that take months.
The Malaysian contingent at WSC Shanghai 2026, under the supervision of the Department of Skills Development and the Ministry of Works, consists of 22 participants competing in 21 skill segments. The event, held from September 22 to 27, involves 1,400 skilled young professionals from over 65 countries and regions, showcasing 64 skill areas.
