Cheruk Tok Kun:The remains of Idrus Ibrahim, the elder brother of Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, were laid to rest at the Cheruk Tok Kun Bawah Muslim Cemetery. The funeral drew hundreds of attendees, including family members, friends, and political leaders from multiple parties.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, the remains were transported from the family home at 12.20 pm to the temporary prayer hall at Cheruk Tok Kun Bawah Jamek Mosque on Jalan Kolam. Prime Minister Anwar, along with family members and the public, walked approximately 200 meters from Idrus' home to the prayer hall.
The funeral prayers, led by Penang Mufti Assoc Prof Datuk Dr Mohd Sukki Othman, took place after Friday prayers. Idrus was then buried at the cemetery at 2.10 pm. Earlier in the day, Penang Yang Dipertua Negeri Tun Ramli Ngah Talib and his wife Toh Puan Raja Noora Ashikin Raja Abdullah paid their respects at the family home at 11.15 am.
Among those who also attended to pay their respects were Penang Deputy Chief Minister I Datuk Dr Mohamad Abdul Hamid, Entrepreneur and Cooperatives Development Minister and Bukit Mertajam MP Steven Sim, along with other political leaders.
Idrus Ibrahim passed away in his sleep at his residence at 6.10 pm the previous day. He was 83 years old and is survived by his wife, four children, and ten grandchildren.
