Shah alam: Several individuals previously detained in relation to the Royal Commission of Inquiry (RCI) Report on Lembaga Tabung Haji (TH) are set to face charges in court tomorrow and Friday. This announcement was made by Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) Chief Commissioner Datuk Seri Abd Halim Aman.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, the charges involve allegations of abuse of power under Section 23 of the MACC Act 2009 and cheating under Section 420 of the Penal Code. These charges are scheduled to be filed in courts across Shah Alam, Kuala Lumpur, and Kelantan.

Additionally, Abd Halim revealed that another investigation paper is being prepared for submission to the Attorney General. This paper pertains to a property lease issue involving the Al Rawda investment, specifically hotel leases in Makkah and Madinah valued at Saudi Riyal 2.49 billion. Charges related to this investigation are anticipated next week, potentially involving prominent individuals previously remanded by the MACC.

The MACC chief further elaborated that 14 investigation papers have been opened concerning the TH RCI, with four classified as requiring no further action. To date, the MACC has detained 18 individuals, 11 of whom were remanded, and has interviewed 245 witnesses while inspecting 60 premises for relevant documents.

Among those remanded are a former CEO of TH Plantation, a former CFO of TH Plantation, a former director of Putra Perdana Construction, a former director of Putrajaya Perdana Berhad, and a former chairman of Lembaga Tabung Haji.
