Kuala lumpur: Several houses suffered damages after heavy rain and strong winds lasting nearly two hours wreaked havoc at Kampung Kepayang Fair Park here today. According to BERNAMA News Agency, the Kinta District Civil Defence Force (APM) District Operations Control Centre (PKOD) received an emergency call from the Tanjung Rambutan headman at 8:15 pm reporting a thunderstorm in the area. 'Following the report, a team of personnel along with an operations officer rushed to the location to conduct monitoring, and the survey found that several houses had sustained damage. 'Among the areas involved are around Hala Kepayang 3, Hala Kepayang K16 and K17, as well as 614 Kampung Kepayang Fair Park and K2D Kampung Kepayang Off Dewan Fair Park,' it said in a statement tonight. The PKOD also reported that the strong winds caused a tree to fall, crushing the roof of a house and damaging two cars in Hala Kepayang. The reported damage included missing roof tiles, leaking ceilings, and other structural damage; however , no victims have been reported involved in the incident so far. Additionally, monitoring showed that no roads were reported flooded or cut off, and the heavy rain and strong winds had completely stopped by 10 pm. The PKOD further stated that APM requires assistance from Tenaga Nasional Berhad (TNB) to cut off the electricity supply to safely remove the fallen tree before further work can be carried out. Meanwhile, videos of the heavy rain and strong winds have gone viral on social media, showing damage to several building structures and food stalls in the area.
