Kubang Kerian: The Semmozhi Sangamam 2025 debate serves as a platform to enhance appreciation for the Tamil language while fostering unity among university students from diverse backgrounds in Malaysia.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, Project Director P Logita said the programme is an initiative to strengthen love for the Tamil language and showcase its richness and significance. This year, six public higher education institutions participated in the competition: Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM) Kubang Kerian campus, Universiti Pendidikan Sultan Idris, Universiti Malaysia Kelantan, the Institute of Teacher Education (IPG) Tuanku Bainun campus, Universiti Sultan Zainal Abidin, and Politeknik Sultan Mizan Zainal Abidin.
Organised by the USM Health Campus Indian Cultural Association, Semmozhi Sangamam 2025 aims to celebrate the beauty and prominence of the Tamil language while strengthening ties among students nationwide. Logita shared this perspective after the closing ceremony at USM’s Health Campus in Kubang Kerian.
She added that this year’s topics covered themes such as economics, language, and youth contributions to society. Earlier, the Sol Venthar team from IPG Tuanku Bainun campus was crowned debate champion, taking home RM1,000 in cash, along with a trophy and certificates.
Winners T Elavarasi and R Mathiventhan Naidu, both 22, described their victory as the beginning of their journey to further promote the language, especially among school students.
