Penang: In conjunction with this year’s Ramadan, the Penang Regional Development Authority (PERDA) continues to strengthen its engagement with rural communities through its Sentuhan Kasih Ramadan initiative. Its chairman Datuk Shaik Hussein Mydin emphasized that the programme aims to foster stronger connections between village communities and the agency while extending support to asnaf, orphans, and single mothers in preparation for the upcoming Aidilfitri celebrations.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, Datuk Shaik Hussein stated, “This initiative is part of our ongoing efforts under the Harmonious Community Development Programme. Through Sentuhan Kasih Ramadan, we hope to not only ease the burden of those in need but also reinforce our role in supporting the welfare of rural communities.” This statement was made during the event at Masjid Ar Rahman Padang Cempedak.
The event was graced by the presence of Yang Dipertua of Penang, Tun Ahmad Fuzi Abdul Razak, and PERDA general manager, Datuk Mohd Asri Baharum. A total of 300 individuals, including tahfiz students and orphans from the Tasek Gelugor area, received duit raya contributions worth RM30,000.
