Semarak Isya’ Initiative Aims to Enhance Community Engagement in Johor’s Mosques and Surau

Johor: Johor Barisan Nasional (BN) has pledged to amplify the success of its Semarak Subuh programme by launching the Semarak Isya' initiative across every state constituency, contingent on receiving the mandate in the forthcoming state election.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, the Semarak Isya' programme is part of the 63 pledges in the Johor BN Manifesto, themed 'Maju Johor, Kestabilan Dikekalkan, Kemajuan Diteruskan'. Johor BN chairman Datuk Onn Hafiz Ghazi emphasized that the programme seeks to transform mosques and surau into vibrant centers of worship, knowledge, welfare, and community unity.

The initiative will introduce religious lectures, spiritual content, and community activities following the isyak prayers, including the provision of free dinners for attendees. Onn Hafiz highlighted the importance of valuing spiritual strength and community harmony alongside physical and economic development.

He stressed that Semarak Subuh has already fostered closer ties between the community and places of worship. The new programme, Semarak Isya', aims to engage families, young people, and the wider community with activities that resonate with their daily lives.

The programme's implementation across state constituencies will allow for customization to meet local needs, encompassing religious lectures, family-oriented events, volunteerism, and community welfare projects. Onn Hafiz underscored that Johor's progress depends not only on economic growth but also on nurturing a society with strong values and social responsibility.

He concluded that genuine development is achieved when economic prosperity is paired with social cohesion and community closeness, a balance that Semarak Isya' aspires to maintain.

The Election Commission has designated tomorrow as the nomination day for the Johor state election, with polling scheduled for July 11, following the dissolution of the state assembly on June 1.
