Johor bahru: The Perumahan Kasih Johor (PKJ) 4.0 initiative has provided housing benefits to 5,000 homebuyers in Johor as part of the state government's ongoing efforts to advance its homeownership agenda.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, Menteri Besar Datuk Onn Hafiz Ghazi emphasized that the initiative represents the state government's unwavering commitment to facilitating homeownership for more Bangsa Johor, especially among the youth. The government has been attentive to the public's needs, addressing the dual challenges of purchasing homes and the subsequent support required to alleviate initial costs and facilitate the transition into homeownership.
During the presentation ceremony for PKJ's fourth phase at the Austin International Convention Centre (AICC), Onn Hafiz highlighted housing as a top priority since assuming office. He acknowledged receiving constructive feedback from Bangsa Johor, particularly young individuals, who questioned the accessibility of affordable homes in the region. This feedback has been instrumental in shaping the state's housing policies.
The ceremony was attended by state Housing and Local Government Committee chairman Datuk Mohd Jafni Md Shukor and Johor Housing Development Corporation (PKPJ) CEO Datin Paduka Dr Suhailizan Suliman. Onn Hafiz noted that PKPJ's improvements and innovations have expanded access to housing assistance, including support for first-time home purchases, transitioning to a new home, and rental aid.
The fourth phase of PKJ has allocated RM20.75 million to assist around 5,000 recipients, offering RM5,000 for first-home purchases, RM2,000 for moving assistance, and RM2,500 for rental assistance to eligible recipients. Onn Hafiz pointed out that recipients are now receiving up to RM7,000 through combined assistance, showcasing the effectiveness of the implemented system. This initiative underscores the state government's dedication to enhancing the housing situation in Johor.
Onn Hafiz reiterated the government's commitment to strengthening its public housing agenda, aiming for more Johoreans to own comfortable and affordable homes. He assured continued assistance to the people regardless of race and urged the public to maintain unity and resist influences that could disrupt harmony in the state.
