Selangor: Youths are encouraged to join the Ahli Dewan Negeri (ADN) Muda 2025, or Young Assemblyman programme, to gain insight into the law and policy-making process in Selangor.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, Selangor State Assembly Speaker Lau Weng San announced that applications for ADN Muda are open from today until April 20, with the programme scheduled for June and July. Lau highlighted that this year’s ADN Muda programme will feature a new format, beginning with 112 participants selected based on their applications. These participants will take part in the first round on June 14 at Wisma Dewan Negeri Selangor. The 56 who qualify will then advance to the two-day, one-night programme on July 28 and 29.
Lau stated that the programme is open to youth aged 18 to 35, regardless of background, with priority given to Selangor voters. Participants will have the opportunity to propose and debate motions on youth-related issues, including economic empowerment, education, and the cost of living. Participants will be divided into groups to propose motions on the topic, and the two motions with the highest votes will be presented at the summit session on July 29.
The ADN Muda programme, which has been implemented since 2014, offers the DNS Speaker’s Cup, a round trophy, to the best debater selected at the summit. Applications can be submitted via ADN Muda Selangor’s Instagram and Facebook pages or through the Selangor State Assembly’s official portal at dewan.selangor.gov.my.
