Selangor: Sultan of Selangor Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah received business zakat (tithe) amounting to over RM13.2 million from six state-owned companies in Selangor today. The contributions were made during a significant event held at the Sultan Salahuddin Abdul Aziz Shah Mosque.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, the six contributing companies included Kumpulan Perangsang Selangor Berhad, which donated RM3.4 million, and Kumpulan Worldwide Holdings Berhad, contributing RM2.9 million. Selangor State Development Corporation (PKNS) offered RM2.6 million, while Menteri Besar Selangor Incorporated provided RM1.9 million. Permodalan Negeri Selangor Berhad and Central Spectrum (M) Sdn Bhd contributed RM1.2 million and RM1.03 million, respectively.
Sultan Sharafuddin accepted the zakat during his attendance at the breaking of fast event, where he arrived at 6.30 pm. He was welcomed by prominent figures including Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Amirudin Shari, State Secretary Datuk Dr Ahmad Fadzli Ahmad Tajuddin, and the Selangor Islamic Religious Council chairman Datuk Salehuddin Saidin.
In addition to the zakat, Sultan Sharafuddin also received a waqf donation totaling RM401,986.55 from the Shah Alam City Council (MBSA) and the Tabung Infaq Jariah Umat Islam Selangor (TIJARI). The event highlighted the commitment of state-owned entities and organizations in supporting religious and community initiatives through substantial financial contributions.
