Shah Alam:The Sultan of Selangor, Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah, attended a Yasin recitation, tahlil, and special prayer in conjunction with the 25th anniversary of his reign at the Sultan Salahuddin Abdul Aziz Shah Mosque.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, the event was also attended by the Raja Muda of Selangor, Tengku Amir Shah Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah. Upon the Sultan's arrival, he was welcomed by Tengku Laksamana Selangor Tengku Sulaiman Shah and Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Amirudin Shari.
The ceremony, led by Selangor Mufti Datuk Dr Anhar Opir, drew approximately 15,000 attendees, including officers and security forces personnel. Following the prayers, Sultan Sharafuddin performed Friday prayers and listened to a sermon titled 'Dari Takhta Ke Hati Rakyat, 25 Tahun Menjunjung Daulat', delivered by Datuk Muhammad Farhan Wijaya, the Grand Imam of the mosque.
The silver jubilee celebrations, lasting from September 28 to November 1, are a tribute to the Sultan's reign, marked by loyalty, respect, and gratitude from both the people and state administration. A total of 20 events are planned, spanning community, religious, environmental, infrastructure, and sports activities, with the main ceremonies scheduled for October 25.
These ceremonies will include the Inspection of the Main Guard of Honour with a 21-gun salute, the Proclamation of Titles and Oath-Taking ceremony, the Pledge of Allegiance by the Selangor Council of the Royal Court and Dato' Diraja Selangor, and the investiture ceremony for Selangor State Awards.
To further commemorate the occasion, the Selangor state government has declared October 26 as a replacement public holiday, as October 25 is a state holiday falling on a Sunday.
