Selangor Raja Muda Attends National Child Protection Conference

Selangor:The Raja Muda of Selangor, Tengku Amir Shah Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah, attended the National Child Protection Leadership Conference 2026, emphasizing the importance of strengthening child protection policies and efforts. The event took place at the International Youth Centre and was aimed at supporting the development of child protection strategies.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Tengku Amir Shah, who is the royal patron of the Children's Protection Society of Malaysia (CPSM), was joined by CPSM president Datuk Seri Nazir Ariff, Tengku Datuk Asra Jehan Tengku Azlan, the CPSM Kuala Lumpur branch chairman, and her deputy, Nawiza Hanoum Nazir Ariff.

Nawiza Hanoum stated that the conference, which began the previous day, gathered stakeholders from government agencies and NGOs, including representatives from ASEAN countries. The purpose was to share insights and expertise on enhancing child protection systems. She highlighted that while NGOs have specific areas of expertise such as education, welfare, health, and legal matters, they often work in isolation.

The conference provided an opportunity for NGOs and relevant organizations to form partnerships, allowing them to consult and collaborate when facing issues outside their expertise to better assist children in need. The conclusions from the conference will be submitted to the government as recommendations for improving Malaysia's child protection policies.

Over 70 participants attended the two-day conference, which was themed 'The Best Interests of the Child.' It focused on four main pillars Protect, Empower, Educate, and Report, to enhance child protection efforts.
