Selangor: The Selangor government remains committed to empowering local entrepreneurs to ensure they can grow sustainably and remain competitive in an evolving digital economy. Selangor Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Amirudin Shari emphasized the importance of supporting micro-entrepreneurs, as they are key drivers of the state's economic growth. According to BERNAMA News Agency, Amirudin Shari stated that empowering entrepreneurs is a priority for his administration. He highlighted that the state government aims to strengthen the entrepreneurial ecosystem by focusing on digitalisation, access to financing, capacity building, and strategic networks. This comprehensive approach is designed to help local entrepreneurs thrive both nationally and internationally. At the Platform Selangor Awards Night 2026 (MAPS 2026), Amirudin showcased the success of the Platform Selangor (PLATS) initiative, which has registered over 100,000 entrepreneurs across the state. This initiative is part of the government's effort to create an inclusive and sustainable entrepreneurial ecosystem. Selangor Youth, Sports and Entrepreneurship Committee chairman Najwan Halimi and MBI Foundation head Ahmad Azri Zainal Nor were also present at the event. MBI Selangor group chief executive officer Datuk Saipolyazan M Yusop expressed that MAPS 2026 was organized to honor the perseverance and innovation of entrepreneurs. He reiterated MBI Selangor's commitment to socio-economic development through various entrepreneurship programs, supported by strategic partners. The event's highlight was the awarding of the Selangor State Micro-Entrepreneur Main Award to Minah Satay founder Norminah Syafrial, who received prizes worth RM20,000. The awards ceremony recognized 23 recipients across nine categories, including five MAPS 2026 Special Awards, each with prizes totaling RM18,000. Organized by the MBI Foundation in collaboration with the Selangor State Economic Planning Unit (UPEN), MBI Selangor, and local authorities, MAPS 2026 underscores the Selangor govern ment's dedication to fostering a robust entrepreneurial landscape.
