Raub: A man tragically drowned while attempting to save his son who had fallen into a fish pond at a resort in Sungai Ruan, Raub.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Raub District Police chief, Supt Mohd Shahril Abdul Rahman, reported that the incident involved 46-year-old Mohamed Hafidz Che Din and occurred around 3 pm. Preliminary investigations revealed that the victim had jumped into the pond in an effort to rescue his eight-year-old son. The young boy had fallen in while trying to retrieve a plastic bread bag that was being used as fishing bait.

During the incident, the victim's son was successfully rescued by a resort worker and an Indonesian national who were present at the scene. Despite their efforts, Mohamed Hafidz did not resurface for approximately 20 minutes. He was eventually discovered near the stairs at the side of the pond. Though CPR was administered multiple times, the attempts to revive him were unsuccessful.

Mohd Shahril further stated that the victim was transported to Raub Hospital. A post-mortem examination determined that the cause of death was asphyxia secondary to drowning.
