Selangor: The Selangor government will issue a circular to all local authorities (PBT) across the state concerning the Fly the Jalur Gemilang campaign, which is being launched in conjunction with the 68th National Day celebration this year. State Local Government and Tourism Committee chairman Datuk Ng Suee Lim announced that the directive will apply to all premises, including government agencies and non-governmental organisations.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, Ng emphasized the importance of instilling a patriotic spirit among citizens. He stated that there needs to be a driving force to ignite this spirit and urged everyone to appreciate the efforts of past leaders and independence fighters who contributed to building the nation. Ng highlighted that a small nation like Malaysia, which was previously unknown, has risen to earn global respect, and it is crucial to protect and defend what has been built.
Ng also called on village heads and rukun tetangga associations to collaborate with the state government to ensure the national flag is prominently displayed in every corner of Selangor’s villages. He urged teachers across the state to play a proactive role in fostering patriotism among students to preserve the meaning and value of independence. Ng remarked that he does not want a society that simply enjoys peace and prosperity without understanding or possessing a true love for the nation.
Earlier, Ng, who is also the Sekinchan Assemblyman, welcomed nearly 100 motorcyclists participating in the Kembara Merdeka Jalur Gemilang 2025 convoy. Sekinchan was the third stop for the convoy after Salak Tinggi New Town Square and the Petaling Jaya City Council (MBPJ) Square. The event concluded at the Sabak Assemblyman’s Coordinating Office, where the baton was handed over to the Perak convoy for the next leg of the journey.
