Selangor Displays Road Safety Messages On LED Screens For Aidilfitri

Selangor: Road safety messages for Aidilfitri will be displayed on 20 LED screens owned by local authorities across several municipal areas in Selangor to raise awareness among road users during the holiday period.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Selangor Road Safety Council (MKJR) deputy chairman Datuk Mohd Yazid Sairi stated that the safety messages, provided by the Road Transport Department (JPJ), would be broadcast periodically in locations including Petaling Jaya, Selayang, Ampang Jaya, Kuala Selangor, Sepang, and Kuala Langat. The initiative, carried out in collaboration with local authorities, aims to deliver safety reminders more widely to the public, particularly amid increased traffic movement during Aidilfitri. "In Selangor, local authorities have LED screens used for promotional and public information purposes, so we are taking the opportunity to display road safety messages in their respective municipal areas," he said.

Datuk Mohd Yazid Sairi further mentioned that the messages supplied by JPJ will be shown throughout the festive season and broadcast periodically according to the display schedule set by the local authorities. He shared these details during a press conference at the Aidilfitri 2026 Road Safety Campaign held at the Section 17 Bus Terminal.

Meanwhile, Selangor JPJ director Azrin Borhan noted that the department is also carrying out regular inspections of buses at depots and terminals to ensure vehicles are in safe condition before departing. He highlighted that passenger awareness of seat belt use has improved, with bus drivers reminding passengers before journeys begin, in addition to monitoring through undercover JPJ officers on board buses.

Effective July 1, 2025, JPJ made it compulsory for all drivers and passengers of express and tour buses to wear seat belts, with offenders liable to a RM300 fine for non-compliance.
