Sekpur: PAS president Tan Sri Abdul Hadi Awang's claim that a foreign country had plotted to topple the Malaysian government in 2014 is a serious revelation involving the country's sovereignty. Describing the matter as far from trivial, the Sekretariat Gerak Gempur Media Sosial Rakyat (SEKPUR) has urged the police to conduct a thorough investigation into any parties allegedly involved in the plot.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, SEKPUR Political Bureau chairman Shahbudin Embun stated that the alleged plot could be construed as an attempt to overthrow the legitimate government led by then Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak. Shahbudin emphasized the sensitivity of the issue, expressing concerns over possible elements of foreign interference that might still be present today. He urged the government and the Inspector-General of Police to examine the situation comprehensively, including investigating whether funds were channeled to the parties involved in the alleged plot.

Shahbudin announced that following the revelation at the PAS annual muktamar in Kelantan, SEKPUR lodged a police report at the Dang Wangi Police headquarters on Thursday. Dang Wangi Police acting chief Supt Nuzulan Mohd Din confirmed that the report was received at 8.28 pm and that the Wangsa Maju police are currently investigating the case.

Meanwhile, Setiawangsa PKR chief Datuk Afdlin Shauki Aksan revealed that a police report on the same issue was lodged on September 6. He urged the police to conduct a comprehensive investigation, considering potential offences under the Sedition Act 1948 or Sections 124B and 124C of the Penal Code. Afdlin stressed that individuals making serious allegations of foreign interference must be prepared to provide statements and evidence to the authorities.

Additionally, three more police reports related to the issue were lodged by Bandar Tun Razak PKR leaders at the Cheras Police Station at approximately 5 pm, further intensifying calls for a detailed investigation into the matter.
