SejaTi MADANI: Dobi Kasih Rahmah Brings Laundry Convenience To Kampung Pertanian

Kampung pertanian: Dobi Kasih Rahmah set up by Komuniti MADANI Kulai in Jalan Manggis, Kampung Pertanian, here, has brought much-needed convenience to local residents with its long-anticipated 24-hour self-service laundry service.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Komuniti MADANI Kulai secretary Mohamad Shafwan Ani said the response from villagers has been very positive since the launderette began operations on May 11, particularly during rainy weather. He explained that the idea for the launderette emerged after the Sejahtera Komuniti MADANI (SejaTi MADANI) programme was introduced in 2024, addressing the needs of residents who previously had to travel to Bandar Putra or Kulai town for laundry services.

Komuniti MADANI Kulai chairman Mohd Syafiq M. Hatta and Mohamad Shafwan submitted an application in 2024, which was approved within the same year, with funds received at the end of 2025. Renovation work on the premises, including the installation of electricity and closed-circuit television (CCTV) cameras, was carried out from January to March.

Mohamad Shafwan noted that while some consider the RM100,000 allocation insufficient, they remained optimistic that, with proper planning, the project could be realized for community convenience. With the funds, they were able to acquire two new washing machines and two electric dryers. The premises' rental has been paid until the end of the year, with around RM20,000 left for working capital, utilities, and future planning.

Dobi Kasih Rahmah offers RM5 for a 36-minute wash and RM6 for a 50-minute drying cycle, alongside an infak (charity) programme for laundry essentials. In terms of long-term planning, there are plans to upgrade the facility with 20-kilogramme washers and dryers, replacing the existing 13-kilogramme machines, as well as introduce a quick response (QR) code payment system.

Mohd Syafiq emphasized that the SejaTi MADANI programme has greatly helped boost the local economy and expressed hope that such initiatives would continue or receive higher allocations in the future. For local residents like Siti Normawati Ahmad, a food seller, and housewife Amnah Jaafar, the self-service launderette has been a great convenience, especially during the rainy season.

The SejaTi MADANI programme was introduced by the government to boost community economic activities through funding of between RM50,000 and RM100,000, aimed at empowering the socio-economic development of local residents.
