Segamat: Segamat Hospital requires 49 additional doctors, particularly medical officers (MOs), to meet current demand and reduce waiting times for patients, Johor Health and Environment Committee chairman Ling Tian Soon said. He highlighted the pressing need to support various services and departments, some of which operate around the clock.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, the hospital currently employs 120 doctors, including specialists and MOs, but requires 169 to adequately support its operations. Ling emphasized that healthcare workers strive to provide optimal service to the public, but the current manpower shortages have inevitably led to longer waiting times and the rescheduling of some appointments.
Ling made these comments during a visit to the hospital this morning, following public feedback regarding staffing shortages and extended waiting periods in several departments. He assured the public that the state government has reached out to the Ministry of Health (MOH) to request additional healthcare personnel to address these challenges.
