Bangkok: Malaysian keglers opened their SEA Games Thailand 2025 campaign with a bronze medal through Muhammad Syazirol Shamsudin, who secured the men's singles bronze here today. Muhammad Syazirol bowed out in the semi-finals, losing narrowly 211-210 to home favourite Buspanikonkul Napat, and shared the bronze with the Philippines' San Jose Mark Jesus at the Blu-O Rhythm and Bowl, Major Cineplex Ratchayothin.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, San Jose had earlier fallen to Vietnam's Tran Hoang Khoi 226-149 in the other semi-final. Buspanikonkul then went on to clinch gold with a 235-210 victory over Tran Hoang in the final. Meanwhile, two-time SEA Games gold medallist Muhammad Rafiq Ismail was eliminated in the quarter-finals after a 266-215 defeat to San Jose.
Action continues tomorrow with the women's singles event. The SEA Games Thailand 2025 is taking place from Dec 9 to 20 across two provinces: Bangkok and Chonburi.
