Sarawak: Sarawak as a co-host for the 2027 SEA Games will provide interpreters and liaison officers to assist foreign contingents that may not understand Malay or English. Sarawak Minister for Youth, Sports and Entrepreneur Development Datuk Seri Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah emphasized the importance of these services to ensure every contingent receives the necessary assistance and guidance throughout their participation in the Games.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, Abdul Karim highlighted the necessity of providing interpreters due to the presence of several Southeast Asian countries that may not be proficient in Malay or English. Liaison officers will also manage and support each contingent, ensuring a smooth experience during the event. Abdul Karim made these remarks after officiating the One Year Countdown to the 2027 SEA Games Sarawak Cluster ceremony.
The Sarawak Sports Complex is set to be one of the main sporting venues and will incorporate festival elements such as Malaysian Kitchen and sales of products and merchandise. This initiative aims to create a vibrant atmosphere throughout the SEA Games while offering entrepreneurs an opportunity to showcase and sell their products.
Meanwhile, Abdul Karim reported that the construction of the International Broadcasting Centre (IBC) next to the Baitulmakmur building is progressing smoothly and is ahead of schedule. The focus on this development is to facilitate the seamless distribution of data and information to participating countries, allowing them to stay updated with real-time events.
The 34th SEA Games will take place from September 18 to 29 next year.
