Aichi-nagoya: The Malaysian contingent at the Aichi-Nagoya 2026 Asian Games is facing a minor communication gap related to transport coordination. Chef de Mission (CDM) Datuk Mohd Sumali Reduan mentioned that these issues, which also involve accommodation, are common at major sporting events. However, he assured that the situation is under control and is being resolved effectively.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Datuk Mohd Sumali Reduan explained that the communication breakdown might have occurred possibly with the Head of Delegation. He addressed this after the contingent's arrival ceremony at the athletes' village, Port of Nagoya. He added that athletes from 14 sports have arrived in Japan, and the Malaysian contingent's preparations are progressing smoothly.

On a separate note, food-related issues have not been a concern, with no complaints received from Malaysian athletes so far. Datuk Mohd Sumali Reduan described the cooperation between the Aichi-Nagoya Asian Games Organising Committee and the National Olympic Committee as effective, enabling prompt resolution of several issues.

"Several countries are also facing the same problems with accommodation and transport, but we were able to resolve them quickly. A few minor issues are still being resolved," he said. Despite these minor issues, he expressed hope that they would not affect the focus or performance of Malaysian athletes throughout the Games.

Regarding the hot weather, Datuk Mohd Sumali Reduan mentioned that it had been anticipated and has not posed any problem for the athletes so far. However, he noted a greater concern with the heavy downpours and minor flooding in several areas over the past few days. Nevertheless, he concluded that the weather has not been a problem for the athletes and has not disrupted their preparations.
