School Bus Owners Encouraged to Update Drivers’ Information for Financial Aid

Accra:The Land Public Transport Agency (APAD) has called on all school bus owners and operators to update their drivers' details by October 30 to facilitate the distribution of RM1,000 in special financial assistance. This update can be completed through APAD's official portal.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, the necessary information includes the driver's current name, address, telephone number, valid driving and Public Service Vehicle (PSV) licenses, and bank account number. This initiative aims to ensure eligible school bus drivers receive their assistance promptly, aligning with Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim's directive to complete payments before Deepavali.

APAD has collaborated with the Federation of Malaysian School Bus Associations and the Kuala Lumpur and Selangor School Bus Operators Association to ensure an efficient and accurate verification and payment process. Drivers' records will be cross-checked with databases from APAD, the Commercial Vehicle Licensing Board (LPKP), and the Road Transport Department (JPJ) to verify eligibility, including the validity of driving and PSV licenses.

The phased payment process is set to begin on October 22. Transport Minister Anthony Loke has indicated that approximately 53,000 drivers, including those of taxis, hire cars, and school buses, are expected to receive this one-off RM1,000 payment before Deepavali.
