Kuala lumpur: National hockey coach Sarjit Singh is satisfied with his players’ performance after Malaysia clinched third place in the 2025 Men’s Hockey Asia Cup. Although the Speedy Tigers did not meet their target to reach the final, he said the team showed steady progress throughout the tournament.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, Malaysia scored 33 goals and conceded 11, averaging 4.7 goals per match. Mohamad Akhimullah Anuar Esook emerged as the top scorer with 12 goals. Sarjit noted that the team is improving and mentioned the need for continuous improvement. He expressed confidence that the team is on the right track.
Sarjit also expressed pride in his team for preserving Malaysia’s world ranking at 12th after defeating China 4-1 in the third-place playoff at Bihar University Hockey Stadium in India. He added that maintaining the ranking would give Malaysia an advantage in the World Cup Qualifiers next year.
