Brasilia: The national wushu team secured its fifth gold medal on the final day of the 17th World Wushu Championship in Brasilia, Brazil, on Sunday. The women’s trio consisting of Tan Cheong Min, Lee Jia Rong, and Pang Pui Yee achieved this feat in the duilian event by scoring 9.630 points.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, Italy earned the silver medal with a score of 9.623 points, while Hong Kong took home the bronze with 9.613 points. The men’s trio from Malaysia, comprising Clement Ting Su Wei, Si Shin Peng, and Bryan Ti Kai Jie, also performed commendably, winning a bronze in their duilian event with the same score as Hong Kong, 9.613 points.
Macau clinched gold in the men’s event with 9.620 points. Despite achieving an identical score, Hong Kong was awarded silver after being edged out on the degree of difficulty.
Overall, Malaysia concluded the championship with an impressive tally of five golds, one silver, and two bronze medals.
