Sarawak: The ninth International Digital Economy Conference Sarawak (IDECS) 2026 will be held from October 5 to 6 at the Borneo Convention Centre Kuching (BCCK) under the theme 'Scaling Innovation Ecosystems for a Borderless Economy: Earth, Orbit and Beyond'.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Sarawak Multimedia Authority (SMA) deputy general manager Dr. Suhaila Jaffar announced that the Digital Economy Awards (DEA) 2026 will coincide with the conference, featuring a presentation ceremony during the IDECS 2026 gala dinner. DEA 2026 is designed to acknowledge organisations and individuals who have contributed to digital transformation, sustainability, and inclusive growth, aligning with Sarawak's digital economy agenda.

Dr. Suhaila detailed that seven award categories will be open for competition: the Digital Technology Award, Research and Development Award, AI Innovations Award, Digital Government Award, Digital Creative Industry Award, Environmental Sustainability Award, and Smart Solution Award. Each category winner is set to receive RM10,000 in cash, while the Premier Award winner will be awarded RM20,000. The deadline for submissions is September 6, with entries required to be submitted online via digitaleconomyawards.com.

She encouraged eligible individuals and organisations to take part in the awards, which are organised by the Sarawak government through SMA as an integral part of IDECS 2026.
