Santubong: In conjunction with this year’s Sarawak Day celebrations, the Nyamai Sarawak Gastronomy Festival 2025: Sarawak Day Edition will be held from July 26 to 27 at the Sarawak Cultural Village in Santubong. Women, Family and Community Development Minister Datuk Seri Nancy Shukri announced that the festival, organised by the Sarawak Gastronomy Association, aims to attract 20,000 visitors and 200 vendors over the two-day event.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, Nancy highlighted the festival’s goal to introduce more creativity by involving participants from various industries, not just those related to food. She emphasized the importance of creativity among youths, particularly in using raw materials like bamboo and green leaves to create useful products. She noted that some edible leaves have health benefits, which aligns with the festival’s broader theme of innovation.
Originally a gastronomy-focused celebration, the festival has evolved into a platform that brings together Sarawakians and visitors through food, culture, and innovation. Nancy, who is also the Member of Parliament for Santubong, underscored the festival’s role in providing businesses with an opportunity to connect with a broad audience while participating in one of Sarawak’s most prominent cultural events.
She also announced that admission to the festival will be free, making it an ideal occasion for families to come together and create lasting memories.
