Kuala lumpur: The number of transactions generated through the Sumbangan Asas Rahmah (SARA) programme, fraud cases involving sales and purchase transactions, and the latest initiatives to expand the scope of social protection are among the issues to be discussed in the Dewan Rakyat today.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, Datuk Seri Dr Zaliha Mustafa (PH-Sekijang) will question the Finance Minister regarding the total allocation for SARA channelled through the MyKasih system spent throughout 2025, and the actual value of transactions generated in the domestic market during the Minister's Question Time. Dr Zaliha is also interested in the status of unspent amounts among recipients up to the expiry date of December 31, 2025, and plans to improve the system for 2026.
In the same session, Kalam Salan (PN-Sabak Bernam) will question the Human Resources Minister about the government's assurance that placing the Malaysian Indian Community Transformation Unit (MITRA) under the ministry would not affect the interests, welfare, and effectiveness of agendas related to the Indian community. Meanwhile, V. Ganabatirau (PH-Klang) will inquire whether the government plans to establish a national mechanism or coordinating body to manage and coordinate matters relating to religions other than Islam, focusing on governance of houses of worship, legal compliance, mediation of community conflicts, and interfaith harmony.
During the question-and-answer session, Datuk Rosol Wahid (PN-Hulu Terengganu) will ask the Domestic Trade and Cost of Living Minister about the number of fraud cases involving sales and purchase transactions reported from 2023 to date, the number of cases taken to court during the period, and the types of penalties imposed. Additionally, Datuk Seri Sh Mohmed Puzi Sh Ali (BN-Pekan) is set to question the Human Resources Minister on the latest initiatives to expand the scope of social protection to marginalised workers, including gig, contract, and part-time workers.
Following the question-and-answer session, the Dewan Rakyat sitting will proceed with the winding-up of the debate on the motion of thanks for the Royal Address by the relevant ministries. The Dewan Rakyat is scheduled to run for 20 days until March 3.
