SAR Area Expanded In Search For Missing Diver Off Pulau Tenggol

Pulau tenggol: The search and rescue (SAR) operation for 66-year-old Tam Peng Hoong has intensified as it enters its fourth day, involving multiple agencies and private parties.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, surface search operations are being conducted using Bot Perkasa 45 from the Pahang Malaysian Maritime Enforcement Agency (MMEA) and KM Redang from the Terengganu MMEA. Additionally, three diving centre operators on the island are actively involved in conducting underwater searches at the location where the incident occurred.

The MMEA stated in a recent announcement that weather conditions in the area are moderate, with northeast winds blowing at speeds between 20 to 30 kilometres per hour and waves reaching heights of one to two metres.

Bernama previously reported that Tam Peng Hoong, a local resident, was feared missing after a scuba diving excursion in the waters off Pulau Tenggol around 4.30 pm on Friday. It was noted that he was diving with one of his children and failed to resurface after five minutes underwater.
