Sanya: The Sanya Tourism Development Bureau of China's Hainan Province has signed a strategic cooperation agreement with Tourism Malaysia. This collaboration aims to enhance tourism ties between the two destinations during "Visit Malaysia Year 2026" and promote joint tourism initiatives. As part of the agreement, Tourism Malaysia has become a "Strategic Tourism Promotion Partner of Sanya." Additionally, the Sanya Tourism Development Bureau has engaged in cooperative exchanges with the Malaysian Association of Tour and Travel Agents (MATTA) and the Malaysian Budget Hotel Association (MBHA). These efforts are focused on improving synergies in tourism management, product development, and tourist exchange. The establishment of the Sanya Tourism Overseas Promotion (Malaysia) Liaison Office aims to provide greater convenience for local residents to access information and book travel products.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, China's visa-free policy for Malaysian citizens visiting Hainan allows for a 15-day stay with just a passport, requiring no visa or additional documents. The flight from Kuala Lumpur to Sanya takes approximately three hours, and demand for this route is on the rise. Both parties are considering the possibility of introducing direct flights to Penang and Kota Kinabalu. Sanya's airport and cruise port have transitioned to paperless operations, with international arrival halls now accepting international credit cards and providing multilingual signs and services. Local support is bolstered by the 12345 foreign-language hotline and a multilingual website (www.visitsanya.com).
