Kuala lumpur: Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) vice-president Datuk Chang Lih Kang has criticized the recent remarks by Kedah Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Muhammad Sanusi Md Nor as inappropriate and potentially hurtful to the public. He emphasized the need for politicians to exercise greater sensitivity, particularly during election campaigns, to maintain social harmony in Malaysia.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Chang highlighted the importance of political leaders being cautious with their statements, especially during election periods. He expressed concern that such remarks, while possibly not affecting politicians personally, could be offensive and damaging to ordinary citizens. Chang made these remarks during a press conference after officiating the TechnoMART Malaysia: High Tech Financing 2026 programme.

Further elaborating on the TechnoMART Malaysia programme, Chang announced that RM5 billion in financing has been made available through a collaboration of 15 organisations, including funding agencies and financial institutions. This initiative is designed to support startups and innovators, with the funding pool accessible over approximately 18 months, subject to terms and eligibility criteria set by each participating organisation.

Chang noted that TechnoMART was created to serve as a national platform, connecting innovators, investors, government agencies, and financial institutions. The goal is to address fragmentation within Malaysia's innovation ecosystem and to transition the country from a technology consumer to a creator and owner of home-grown technologies.
