Sandakan Fire: Sabah Government Assures Safety, Immediate Aid For Victims

Sandakan: The Sabah state government has mobilised all relevant agencies to ensure the safety of victims of a fire at Kampung Bahagia here, while expediting the delivery of immediate assistance to those affected. Chief Minister Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor said the priority at present is to safeguard the welfare of the victims and ensure their comfort, including through the provision of temporary shelters, basic necessities and food.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Chief Minister Hajiji expressed his deep sadness after receiving reports of the major fire, which involved hundreds of houses in Kampung Bahagia, Batu Sapi. In a Facebook post, he assured the public that the state government is committed to closely monitoring the situation to guarantee that all forms of assistance are delivered promptly and effectively.

Earlier reports indicated that approximately 200 houses in the water village of Kampung Bahagia were destroyed in an early morning fire. The state government has pledged to provide immediate relief and support to those affected by the disaster.
