Kota kinabalu: Pakatan Harapan (PH) secretary-general Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution Ismail has called on voters in the Api-Api state constituency to continue supporting PH candidate Thonny Chee in the upcoming 17th Sabah State Election. He said continued support for Chee was crucial to ensure that the voices of Api-Api constituents could be represented more effectively at the state level, while sustaining the momentum of PH’s service in the area over the past two terms.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, Saifuddin Nasution emphasized the importance of choosing Chee due to his strong educational background as a lawyer, which was a significant factor in his selection as a candidate. He noted Chee’s extensive experience in community work and engagement, highlighting his capability to represent the younger generation effectively.
Saifuddin Nasution addressed reporters during a meet-and-greet session with Chee, emphasizing that support for Chee would aid in resolving numerous issues, especially those needing cooperation between state and federal governments. He expressed confidence that if Chee and other PH assemblymen were elected, their effectiveness would be enhanced due to the alignment between state and federal governments.
He further stated that electing candidates hostile to the federal government would be detrimental, potentially harming the people of Sabah. The Api-Api state seat will witness a five-cornered contest involving Ng Chun Sua (Parti Impian Sabah), Ting Shu Kiong (Parti Solidariti Tanah Airku or STARR), Soh Kee Suat @ So Chee Say (Parti Bumi Kenyalang), Loi Kok Liang (Warisan), and Thonny Chee, representing PH through PKR.
The Election Commission (EC) has designated Nov 29 as polling day, with early voting scheduled for Nov 25.
