Kuala lumpur: In conjunction with Aidiladha, Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has called on Muslims to embrace sacrifice as the fundamental prerequisite in overcoming challenges and building a stronger future for the nation. In a Facebook post, Anwar said the significance of the celebration, inspired by the example of Prophet Ibrahim AS and Prophet Ismail AS, serves as a reminder that every meaningful effort and struggle requires sacrifice.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, Anwar emphasized that the sacrifices made today carry intrinsic value, whether in managing the nation's economy, pursuing knowledge, or strengthening religious understanding, all of which shape the future. He highlighted that enduring today's hardships for a better tomorrow is among the profound wisdoms bestowed by God, impacting the future of families, the country, and even life after death.
Anwar also noted that life would become empty and devoid of meaning without the willingness to sacrifice worldly attachments such as wealth, status, and personal interests. On the topic of the haj pilgrimage, he described the fifth pillar of Islam as carrying profound spiritual lessons aimed at nurturing humility and moderation.
He spoke about the simple white ihram attire, which teaches Muslims the values of purity, cleanliness, and simplicity, while the wuquf in Arafah instills humility and self-reflection regardless of status or social standing. Anwar remarked that this is the unmatched strength of haj, reflected through deep understanding, appreciation, and the practice of faith.
He urged not to stray from the true purpose and path, suggesting that this world should serve as a bridge towards the eternal life to come. Anwar also offered prayers for Malaysian haj pilgrims currently in the Holy Land, hoping they would be granted a haj mabrur and return home safely.
