Kota kinabalu: The Sabah Immigration Department detained 111 foreigners in an enforcement operation conducted in Kota Kinabalu, Sandakan, and Kudat over two days from Tuesday. The operation involved inspections of 224 individuals, with those detained suspected of various immigration offences, including not possessing valid documents and breaching the conditions of their passes under the Immigration Act 1959/63.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, in Kota Kinabalu, 66 foreigners were detained, comprising 60 Filipinos and six Indonesians. In Sandakan, 27 foreigners were detained, including 26 Filipinos and one Indonesian. Meanwhile, in Kudat, 18 Filipinos were detained.
The Sabah Immigration Department stated that it would continue to step up enforcement operations to curb the presence of illegal immigrants and ensure compliance with the country's immigration laws. The department also urged the public to remain vigilant in their communities and not to protect or employ illegal immigrants.
