Kuching: The diversity of regions, races, cultures, and religions is Malaysia's strength that unites the people as one family, said Sabah Chief Minister Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor. He emphasized the importance of nurturing the spirit of unity, mutual respect, and cooperation to ensure Malaysia's continued peace, stability, and prosperity.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, during a video message at the national-level Malaysia Day 2026 celebration at the Borneo Convention Centre Kuching (BCCK), Hajiji invited Malaysians to embrace the theme of this year's Malaysia Day, 'Malaysia Madani, Kesejahteraan Dinikmati'. Sarawak Governor Tun Dr. Wan Junaidi Tuanku Jaafar was the guest of honour at the event, with Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim and Sarawak Premier Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg also in attendance.

Hajiji highlighted that the theme reflects the government's commitment to building a developed, inclusive, and harmonious nation. He stressed the importance of ensuring that the prosperity of the country is shared fairly among all citizens and regions.

He expressed hopes for Malaysia, particularly Sabah, to continue being peaceful and prosperous, leading the country towards success in various fields. Hajiji urged citizens to celebrate Malaysia Day with patriotism, preserving harmony among people of different races and religions.

Approximately 5,000 attendees participated in the celebration at BCCK. The official event included a speech by the Prime Minister and the signing ceremony of the Malaysia Day Celebration Special Book. The celebration featured performances from guest artistes, a musical theatre, and a final performance involving three regions: Peninsular Malaysia, Sabah, and Sarawak.
