Kuala lumpur: A total of 41 areas in Peninsular Malaysia recorded Air Pollutant Index (API) readings at unhealthy levels as of 9 am today.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, the Malaysian Air Pollutant Index Management System (APIMS) portal reported that six areas in Selangor recorded unhealthy readings. These areas included Johan Setia with an API of 187, Shah Alam at 175, Petaling Jaya at 169, Klang at 167, Banting at 166, and Kuala Selangor at 164.

In Kuala Lumpur, Cheras recorded an unhealthy API of 179, while Batu Muda registered 172. Negeri Sembilan also saw high levels, with Nilai at 177, Seremban at 175, and Port Dickson at 160, along with Putrajaya at 176.

Penang reported four areas with unhealthy readings, namely Minden at 166, Balik Pulau at 164, Seberang Jaya at 162, and Seberang Perai at 160.

Perak had five areas at unhealthy levels: Seri Manjung at 166, Tanjung Malim at 164, Tasek Ipoh at 162, Taiping at 159, and Pegoh Ipoh at 143.

In Melaka, Bukit Rambai recorded an API of 164, Alor Gajah 160, and Melaka City 153. Terengganu's affected areas included Kuala Terengganu at 164, Kemaman at 154, and Paka at 151.

Pahang saw unhealthy API readings in Temerloh at 163, Jerantut at 162, Indera Mahkota, Kuantan at 157, Balok Baru, Kuantan at 154, and Rompin at 119.

In Johor, Tangkak recorded 159, Pasir Gudang 152, Batu Pahat 151, Kluang 125, and Segamat 107. Kedah's affected areas included Sungai Petani at 157, Kulim Hi-Tech at 155, and Alor Setar at 119. In Kelantan, Tanah Merah recorded a reading of 152.

Meanwhile, 22 areas nationwide recorded API readings at moderate levels, including Kuching (73), Sibu (66), IPD Serian (66), Samarahan (65), Bintulu (59), Sri Aman (55), and Miri (54) in Sarawak, as well as Tawau (79), Politeknik Kota Kinabalu (71), and Keningau (56) in Sabah.

An API reading of 0 to 50 indicates good air quality, 51 to 100 moderate, 101 to 200 unhealthy, 201 to 300 very unhealthy, and 301 and above hazardous.
