S P Setia Applauds Budget 2027’s Emphasis on Home Ownership and Johor Development

Johor:S P Setia Bhd welcomes the measures supporting home ownership, investment, sustainable development, and the resilience of Malaysia's construction ecosystem in Budget 2027. The property developer also praised the extension of the stamp duty exemption for residential properties priced up to RM750,000 until 2030, which is expected to broaden support for prospective homebuyers and improve accessibility to home ownership.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, the group expressed encouragement at the continued focus on Johor as an economic and investment corridor, highlighting the Johor-Singapore Special Economic Zone (JS-SEZ) and improvements in regional connectivity. These initiatives are seen as complementary to S P Setia's established presence in Johor and its expansion into industrial development.

President and chief executive officer Datuk Zaini Yusoff noted that the emphasis on green investment through the Green Investment Tax Allowance (GITA) aligns with plans for Setia Fontaines Industrial Park to become a green industrial park. He stated that the momentum in Johor and the JS-SEZ supports the strategy to grow S P Setia's industrial platform alongside its core township business.

The group also welcomed the reintroduction of the variation of price (VOP) mechanism to assist the construction sector in managing fluctuations in key inputs such as diesel and bitumen, providing greater certainty to contractors. S P Setia emphasized the importance of managing construction and housing development costs to ensure quality homes remain accessible to Malaysians, while advocating improvements in productivity, procurement efficiency, and overall delivery costs.

Additionally, S P Setia praised the government's objective to increase affordable housing under the 13th Malaysia Plan, noting that public-private collaboration could facilitate the delivery of quality, sustainable, and well-connected communities.
