Serdang: Perbadanan Kemajuan Pertanian Selangor (PKPS) and the National Farmers Organisation (NAFAS) today signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) involving projects worth about RM30 million to expand market access and strengthen the agri-food supply chain.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, PKPS Group chief executive officer Datuk Dr Mohamad Khairil Mohamad Razi stated that the strategic collaboration would enable both organisations to leverage their respective strengths, particularly in distribution, marketing, and technology. "The exchange of the MoU today marks a starting point for PKPS and NAFAS to go further in marketing PKPS' existing products through outlets and channels owned by NAFAS, as well as NAFAS products through outlets owned by PKPS," he said.
He mentioned that the collaboration represented a win-win partnership that could accelerate the nationwide expansion of both organisations' product reach. "This is a very interesting collaboration between PKPS and NAFAS," he told reporters after the MoU exchange in conjunction with the Malaysia Agriculture, Horticulture and Agrotourism Exhibition (MAHA) 2026 at the Malaysia Agro Exposition Park Serdang (MAEPS) here today.
Mohamad Khairil highlighted that PKPS currently has a network of 244 outlets and distributors nationwide that could serve as platforms to expand the marketing of its products, including those under the Ehsan PKPS brand. "We are now in the process of further expanding our products and their reach, including our outlets, not only in Selangor but throughout the country," he said.
He further detailed that the collaboration with NAFAS was expected to provide a significant boost towards achieving the target while supporting the food security agenda by strengthening the agricultural supply chain. Under the MoU, PKPS will serve as an official distribution centre for NAFAS products, besides supplying fresh produce such as chicken, meat, and seafood, frozen food, and dry goods under the Ehsan PKPS brand to a wider market.
NAFAS, meanwhile, will serve as a distribution centre for PKPS products and supply agricultural inputs such as fertilisers and pesticides, while expanding the distribution of food products under the Peladang brand. Mohamad Khairil said the collaboration would also encompass joint programmes involving product distribution, technology adoption, marketing, and the sharing of expertise in sectors managed by both organisations.
He explained that the initiative was in line with the PKPS Agribusiness Transformation Plan 2026-2030 (SEED 2030), which focuses, among others, on increasing agricultural and livestock productivity and output, as well as sales performance of Ehsan-branded products. The MoU was exchanged by Mohamad Khairil and NAFAS general manager Muhammad Faris Ariffin, witnessed by Agriculture and Food Security Minister Datuk Seri Mohamad Sabu.
MAHA 2026, being held at MAEPS, serves as an important platform for bringing together players in the agriculture and agri-food sectors, while providing opportunities to explore new partnerships and markets.
